Why we retire designs

Every piece here is the last of its kind — and we don't make it twice.

We keep our collection considered, which means some designs must make way for new ones. What's left is offered at its lowest price, so it can begin a life somewhere it's loved.

  1. I

    Discontinued, not diminished

These designs are simply retiring from the collection. The craftsmanship, materials and finish are exactly as they've always been.

  2. II

    Ethically sourced

Each gemstone is hand-selected for brilliance and clarity, responsibly sourced from partners we trust — clearance or not.

  3. III

    Made to be worn

Finished to endure daily wear and treasured for years. A lower price today, the same lasting piece tomorrow.

The Kherish Atelier

Handcrafted, retired, and remembered

The Farewell Edit, explained

What actually ends up in clearance

Every Kherish piece is handmade to order in small runs by our artisans. Clearance isn't overstock — it's what's left of a design after we've decided not to make it again.

Why a design gets retired

Nothing here is a second or a return. A design retires because a gemstone becomes hard to source at a consistent grade, because a setting is slow to produce by hand, or because a new collection needs our artisans' bench time. Once that call is made, we finish the current run and stop.

There is no reorder waiting in the wings — what's listed is what's left.

Why sizes go unevenly

Each retired style was cast in one final batch, split across sizes the way any small run is — a little heavier in the common sizes, lighter at the ends. A garnet ring in a size 7 might sell out in a day while a 4.5 sits for weeks. That's not restocking logic; it's just how a limited batch empties.

What you won't find here

Every piece in the Farewell Edit was handcrafted by our artisans to the same standard as our full-price collections. Returned items are inspected and either restocked at full price or retired outright — they're never routed quietly into clearance.

Not in this edit:

  • Damaged or seconds-quality pieces
  • Previously worn or altered jewelry
  • Overstock we plan to reorder
  • Anything below our full-price finishing standard

How clearance quality compares to full price

It compares exactly, because it's made the same way. Sterling silver pieces here are still solid 925, and black gold and vermeil finishes still meet the same plating standard as our permanent lines. Every gemstone is set by the same artisans, to the same tolerances.

The discount is about inventory, not specification — we'd rather move a retired design cleanly than let it sit occupying bench time our current collections need.

Worth knowing:

Clearance pieces carry the same warranty and after-purchase support as anything else at Kherish. They are not final sale.

Clearance by gemstone: what's still here

What's left shifts week to week, but a few stones recur. Alexandrite shows up often, prized for the way it shifts from green-blue to purple-red under different light. Garnet appears heavily in our black gold pieces, and moss agate turns up in nature-inspired leaf settings.

Herkimer diamonds — double-terminated quartz, naturally faceted — pair often with black onyx in our couple's sets. If a specific stone isn't here today, our permanent gemstone shop carries the full range.

Metals in this clearance: silver, gold and black gold

Most retiring pieces are sterling silver or 14k gold vermeil, with a smaller run in solid gold and our signature black gold finish. Men's bands lean on tungsten carbide for its everyday durability. Whatever the metal, it's the same base spec as our current collection — only the design is being discontinued, not the standard.

Before you buy

Clearance, answered

No. Every clearance piece is handcrafted by the same artisans, to the same specification, as anything sold at full price. What changed is that we stopped producing the design — not how it's made.

No. Clearance pieces carry the same return window and warranty as the rest of the site. They are not final sale unless the listing says otherwise.

No — that's what makes it clearance rather than a sale. Once a design is retired, we don't reissue it, so what's listed is genuinely the last of its kind.

Each retired design was cast in one final batch. Common sizes tend to sell first, so a size 7 might be gone in a day while a 4.5 lingers for weeks — there's no restock to even it back out.

Usually not. Because the setting is discontinued, we can't guarantee a matching band can be produced later. If you're planning a full stack, our permanent collections are the safer choice.

No — it's the same solid 925 sterling silver used across the site, not a thinner or different alloy. Normal care and occasional polishing keep it looking its best either way.

Alexandrite, garnet, and moss agate recur most, since they anchor several of our retiring collections. Herkimer diamonds and black onyx also show up regularly in couple's sets.

Yes, with normal care. Moss agate sits around a 7 on the Mohs scale, which holds up well to everyday wear — we'd just recommend removing it before heavy manual work, as with any gemstone ring.

Yes. Men's bands — including tungsten carbide and black gold styles — do appear in clearance, though the selection is smaller and turns over quickly.

Sale items are temporarily discounted and may be restocked. Clearance items are permanently discontinued — once a size or design sells out here, it's gone for good.

Clearance is already marked down to its lowest price, so most sitewide codes won't stack on top of it. Check the specific code's terms at checkout to confirm.

Occasionally. Moissanite styles move in and out of clearance along with everything else — search or filter by stone to see what's currently available.

No questions match that search.
